King Edward Parade House
RENOVATIONS
My clients purchased a very original bay villa on a spectacular waterfront site in Devonport, constructed around 1900.
As is typical with villas of this era, the internal layout was awkward and confined, with small rooms that weren’t compatible with a modern family lifestyle.
We completely altered the layout and designed a new lean-to at the northern end of the house, resulting in a sunny, open-plan living area.
The house originally had a carport at the northern end of the section, which we demolished to build the lean-to. We built a new garage at street level on the southern end of the site, adding a patio on top of the garage to create an additional entertaining space with harbour views.
Several years later, the house changed hands and I was engaged by the new owners to design a conservatory-style living room on the eastern side of the house.
I designed a large, light-filled space for family living, complete with an impressive central skylight which provides ample sunshine.
